Detailed itinerary for The 6-day gorillas and chimpanzee habituation safari 

Day 1: Arrival and transfer to your hotel.

Upon your arrival at Entebbe International Airport, our driver will be there to greet you then drive you to your hotel. He will provide you with a briefing about your 6-day primate adventure and then allow you some time to relax as you get ready for the following day.

Dinner and overnight stay at Best Western hotel.

Day 2: Drive to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.

After a cosy breakfast at your lodging, drive with your guide to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, a home to half of the world’s remaining gorillas.

Make a brief stop at the equator crossing for some photographs and breakfast, then continue on to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.

 The journey takes you through the picturesque rolling hills of southwestern Uganda, also known as the Kigezi region. Enjoy a meal along the way at the Igongo Cultural Centre in Mbarara. Drive until you reach Bwindi, check in at your lodge, and enjoy dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 3: Gorilla habituation.

Rise early, have breakfast, and then head to the park headquarters for an orientation on how to interact with the incredible great apes in their natural environment. Rushaga, a section of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, is where gorillas are mainly habituated.

This park is home to half of the world’s remaining gorilla population and provides excellent gorilla habituation experiences. After the briefing, you will embark on your gorilla habituation journey through the jungle, accompanied by Rangers, trackers, and researchers who are knowledgeable about your habituation activities.

Unlike the traditional gorilla trekking tour, which allows guests only one hour with the gorillas, the habituation experience enables you to spend approximately four hours with these magnificent great apes. During your gorilla habituation, you will gain extensive knowledge about the great apes. Stay alert and observe the researchers at work. You may be invited to assist in naming group members, collecting samples, or even making gorilla calls.

After this captivating experience, you will return to the park headquarters to meet your guide before driving back to your lodge resort to relax and unwind. Once you’ve enjoyed your habituation experience, return to your lodge for a leisurely meal and an overnight stay.

Day 4: Transfer to Kibale National Park

Kick start a day with a nice breakfast at the lodging then transfer from Bwindi to Kibale national park.  Enjoy the journey as you drive through scenic views of the surroundings and plantations.

Upon arrival in Kibale, check in at your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 5: Chimpanzee habituation

Following breakfast, you will journey to the Kibale forest for an unforgettable chimp habituation experience. Begin with an informative briefing before venturing into the jungle. As you explore, you might also come across various other monkey species, such as colobus monkeys, olive baboons, and red-tailed monkeys. When you encounter these fascinating animals, you will have around 4 hours to immerse yourself in the experience. Learn extensively about the chimpanzees and observe their daily routines. ( play, eat, secure territories, etc.)

Dinner and overnight stay at Kibale Tourist Lodge.

Day 6:  Drive back to Entebbe.

Today marks the end of the 6 days primate habituation safari. Begin with breakfast in the morning then depart to Entebbe. Arrive at Entebbe then fly out. Safe travels.
