Embark on a 3-day adventure with gorillas and golden monkeys for unforgettable wildlife experiences in Rwanda’s iconic park, including a visit to the Ellen DeGeneres Campus to learn about the remarkable contributions of Dian Fossey.

On Day 2, you will have a genuine experience with the gorillas, observing them for about an hour. On the final day of your 3-day gorilla and golden monkey excursion, you will enjoy the sight of golden monkeys in the bamboo forests of the volcano.

This trip offers a short safari in Rwanda that promises highly immersive adventures.

Brief itinerary

Day 1: Transfer to Volcanoes National Park and visit Ellen de Generes camp.

Day 2:  Gorilla trekking in Volcanoes National Park.

Day 3: Golden monkeys tracking and transfer back to Kigali.

Detailed itinerary

Day 1: Transfer to Volcanoes National Park and Visit Ellen degenres camp.

The guide will pick you up from your hotel in Kigali and drive you to Musanze in northern Rwanda. The journey lasts approximately two hours as you watch views of the rolling hills.  Arrive in volcanoes, enjoy lunch at your selected accommodation.

In the late afternoon, prepare to visit Ellen degenres camp. This camp is home to some of the great works of the American primatologist (Dianna Fossey).  Here you will be ready to see some of her works and writings.

Day 2:  Gorilla trekking in Volcanoes National Park.

Today, you will go on an exhilarating gorilla trek in Volcanoes National Park. Start your adventure with a briefing at the Kinigi Park Headquarters, where knowledgeable park guides will provide you with essential information on park regulations and the etiquette of gorilla tracking.

 After this enlightening session, you will head into the park to embark on your gorilla expedition. The quest to find the gorillas usually involves about three hours of hiking, although this duration can vary significantly based on the movements of the gorillas.

Get ready to be amazed by the breathtaking views of the Virunga mountains and the lush, rolling hills, along with the opportunity to discover rare plant species and learn about the nutritional and medicinal needs of the gorillas.

Please note that you will have a maximum of one hour to spend with the gorillas.

Day 3: Golden monkeys tracking and transfer back to Kigali.

Today, you will head back to the Virungas for yet another amazing experience: the golden monkey hiking expedition. The golden monkeys are native to the Virunga mountains and reside in the bamboo forests at lower elevations.

This hike will be brief, and you might spot the monkeys , birds on your way . Upon meeting the golden monkeys only one hour is offered to you for interaction. Enjoy  viewing these gentle giants as they feed, play , eat and many more.

After your golden monkey adventure, you will return, enjoy lunch, and then set off for Kigali for your flights.
