Mount Nyiragongo is one of the recently active strato volcanoes the continent has ever had with 2 lava lakes and a glimpse of the lava lake offers lasting memories, just remember to carry along a good quality camera.

Detailed Itinerary of 4 Days Congo gorilla trek and Nyiragongo Volcano hike
Day 1: Transfer to Congo
On the first day, our safari guide takes you to Congo and ensure check in with Virunga tourism office, receive safari permits and continue to a booked lodging facility at Kibumba Tented Camp on full board.
Day 2: Gorilla trekking in Virunga National Park
After breakfast, set off to Bukima Ranger post for briefing by park rangers on the do’s and don’ts of Congo gorilla safaris, spend one hour with the gorillas and return to Kibumba Tented camp for a late lunch and overnight
Day 3: Hike Nyiragongo and spend the night at the summit
After breakfast, you are transferred to Kibati Ranger Post by 8:15am at the Nyiragongo hike start point for briefing and hiring porters. The climb takes about 6 hours depending on the hikers’ ability and spend a night at the summit having great views of the lava lake.
Day 4: Descend Mount Nyiragongo and depart
Early morning, climbers will leave the crater rim and start the descent back to Kibati Ranger post for four hours where you connect with your guide for a departure transfer from Congo.
